Between work and the kitchen remodel, I actually have been making some time for some creative pursuits. My space is so jammed pack with projects that I never know where to start, which sometimes ends up with me doing nothing. I can’t tell you how often I come up with a new idea and want to start a new project, but then I see something that reminds me of a project already started or one sitting there just waiting to be started. Sometimes you see the raw materials for a project and you just have to say to yourself “Make this right now!”
These are some of those projects.
Not much to say here. I had some black vinyl shoes that looked pretty worn out, but I liked the style and didn’t want to get rid of them. Now they’re green and purple, so I have to make some clothes to go with them!
For our wedding, Sean drew a cat with the number 13. We met on Friday the 13th and our wedding was on Friday the 13th, so lucky 13 was one of our personal themes. We printed the cat on envelopes and it was one of the designs he screen printed on our table coverings. I embroidered the cat on the brick wall for a Thing A Day project and wasn’t sure what I’d end up doing with it. Sometimes you have to sit on things and wait for the right inspiration. In this case it turned out to be an oval frame that I bought for $2.
Going through my fabric stash recently, I found this robot fabric with a note pinned on it that read “Make a pillow.” This particular time I felt compelled to follow the instruction. I’ve been trying to purge some sewing/crafting supplies and I’ve had the pillow forms for years now, so I decided they needed to become pillows now or I had to give them away.
I love the black and white fabric and added red piping because that’s my favorite color. If you stare at the fabric for too long your eyes will go wonky. I used the robot fabric because it’s got robots on it. Enough said. Now we have to buy a couch that matches them.
